At the center of the massive Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team had assembled less than a week after winning Bronze at X Games in LA. It was hot and humid, and although the track was similar to other GRC Venues, it was extremely abrasive. Shakedown on Friday had gone well and Sverre Isachsen still high from his podium finish at X Games was happy.

Bucky Lasek and Dave Mirra had made minor setup changes, but overall as practice started Saturday morning, everything was race ready. The rest of the day had its ups and downs, however, when the final checkered flag was waved, it was a fantastic finish for both Sverre Isachsen and teammate Dave Mirra. Sverre repeated his podium finish scoring another 3rd place, while Dave Mirra locked in 4th!

The troubled launches earlier in the season were a distant memory as the 2013 Subaru WRX STI's rocketed away from the starts. During qualifying Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek both posted excellent times while Sverre Isachen wanted more speed. As expected, the start of the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) was a violent event, immediately retiring several racers. Luckily Mirra and Isachsen were not among them. Mirra worked his way through the pack winning the LCQ, with Isachsen following behind in 3rd.

Starting in the 9th position for the Final, Sverre Isachsen the Viking Warrior, drew from his decades of racing experience to pilot his 600 horsepower Subaru WRX STI to an outstanding 3rd place finish. Dave Mirra having found his groove in the LCQ, also went all out and confidently reeled in 4th.

This was impressive racing and after a mediocre mid-day performance, the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team could not have been happier. The crew at Vermont SportsCar has worked extremely hard all year and it's awesome to see all their efforts come together!
