The Mint 400 qualifying scene has been pretty hectic the last couple years. The secrecy surrounding location, times, etc has forced teams to be ready for anything at all times. This year, drivers registered on Thursday morning in Jean, NV at the Gold Strike and scurried down the road to prepare for their runs. Dale Dondel took top honors finishing a half-second ahead of Bryce Menzies. With the Pole Position, Dondel will start by himself while the rest of the racers will take off two at a time.

The course was a 3.4 mile loop that was fairly high speed and only a few quick turns. The teams were allowed a pre run of sorts, driving about half speed to get a lay of the land. Once everyone was through, it was on.
